Chandra Y. Anderson, CFRE

Chandra Y. Anderson, President of Anderson Consults has raised approximately $1 billion dollars during 20 years of fundraising. Anderson Consults is a fundraising firm for non-profit organizations. We exist to help non-profits access the support they need.  We are ready to counsel, advise and provide technical assistance at critical times in an organizations history when they are ready to take the next step--whether it be a start-up, growth, or expansion. 

Anderson Consults specializes in developing strategies, helping implement those strategies that secure necessary resources to carry out the next phase of the organization's mission. Chandra Y. Anderson, has held the chief fundraising positions as Senior Vice President of the National Urban League, The United Way of New York City and the Apollo Theater Foundation. 

 

 
 

Career highlights include the $550 Million September 11th Fund, $65 Million Capital Campaign to restore the World Famous Apollo Theater and a $250 Million Campaign in support of the Urban League's Centennial. She is best known
for developing strong fundraising strategies that achieve goals, garnering board support, building strong donor relationships, and developing systems that support fundraising operations. At the National Urban League she was responsible for strategic private sector fundraising and donor relations, staffing the President, Board of Trustees
and Development Committee, managing the Development team, and driving integration for fundraising across the organization at the national and local levels. 

Prior to joining the National Urban League, Ms. Anderson was the Senior Vice President of Resource Development for Apollo Theater Foundation, Inc. where she was responsible for the oversight of the $65 million capital campaign and instituting the Apollo's first annual campaign since the organization became a not-for-profit in 1991.  Prior to working for the Apollo, she was the SVP of Development for the United Way of New York City.  She served the United Way for 10 years and was responsible for raising nearly $350 million in the annual campaign in addition to fundraising administration and donor relations for the September 11th Fund which raised nearly $500 million.  During her tenure, the United Way of New York City achieved double-digit growth in the local campaign for the first time in history for two consecutive years.

Ms. Anderson is a graduate of the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy, the Fund Raising School and the University of North Texas.

She serves on the board of directors of CityKids Foundation and Women in Development, and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Ms. Anderson has years of experience as a fundraising instructor.  Her expertise ranges from fundraising strategy, management and operations, to major gifts solicitation.   Currently, her focus is on strengthening organizations in the African-American communities.  She believes there is a great need to build the fundraising knowledge and capacity of organizations to serve at-risk communities - in the community. She has lived in New York City for 23 years and is a Texas native.

Dan Orvieto, MSW, Vice President MIS, Marketing and Operations for Anderson Consults, brings 21-years of non-profit and information technology management experience to the firm.

At Anderson Consults, he is responsible for providing systems analysis and strategic leadership to the firm and its clients on Information Technology, Marketing and Operations to ensure superior operations. In addition, he is charged with developing and managing the company's internal information technology infrastructure and marketing and interactive media solutions to meet the firm's business objectives.

During his seasoned career, Dan has evaluated business operations and developed a variety of innovative IT, Marketing and Technology solutions to assist both local and national non-profit organizations to meet their business needs.

 

He has worked as a consultant and staff member for diverse organizations such as the Twenty-First Century Foundation, National Urban League, American Association of AIDS Research, New York City Anti-Violence Project, Mayors Office of AIDS Policy, Gay Men's Health Crisis and AIDS Institute & AIDS Educationand Resource Center at the Health Science Center at SUNY Stony Brook.

Prior to joining Anderson Consults, Dan served as Director of Data and Interactive Media at the National Urban League. In this role, Dan was responsible for the development, management and oversight of the Leagues data, web and interactive media initiatives. In addition, he provided information technology and marketing consultation to the organizations senior staff and 103 affiliates across the country.

In 1998, he received presidential acclaim from GMHC for developing an agency-wide volunteer management system.   In addition, Dan developed a national hate crimes database for a coalition of 20+ anti-violence projects.

Dan received his Bachelor of Science from SUNY Stony Brook and his Master of Social Welfare from Fordham University. He is a certified Windows Network Administrator and has completed Database, A+ Certification and Network+ course work. He is a certified SIFI Field Instructor and served as President of his Coop from 2003-2006.
